Purpose
Psychosis is so many things. It can be frightening, spiritual, debilitating, ecstatic and otherworldly. In the media, terms like psycho, psychotic and crazy are banded about with negative connotations that leave people feeling othered and lonely.
This film is an opportunity to bring some recognition and awareness to what so many people experience every day and join a bigger conversation about the stigmas surrounding mental health.
The Clouds After a Storm is based on the lived experience of our Writer-Director Charly, who passed away in March 2026 from cancer. This film was an intensely personal project for Charly, shaped by their own lived experience of psychosis and their belief in the importance of honest, human storytelling around mental health. Their voice continues through this film and through every conversation it opens. It’s our mission to get the film seen by as many people as possible, and by doing so, Charly’s voice lives on.
